Gale Partners with Scholarly iQ to Enhance COUNTER Reporting Capabilities
Helotes, Texas — 15th November 2024 – Scholarly iQ, a long standing leader in usage analytics services, is excited to announce a new partnership with Gale, an innovative provider of research and educational resources. This collaboration will enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of COUNTER reporting for Gale’s library and institutional customers worldwide through an upgrade to the COUNTER 5.1 standard, with 5.1 usage reports back to January 2023.
As academic institutions continue to seek transparency and accountability in their resource usage, the integration of COUNTER-compliant reporting through Gale and Scholarly iQ will empower libraries to gain deeper insights into their digital resource utilization. This partnership will facilitate streamlined data collection and reporting, enabling institutions to make informed decisions about their collections and investments.
Key Benefits of the Partnership Include:
- Enhanced Reporting Capabilities: Users will benefit from intuitive dashboards that simplify the analysis of usage data, allowing for quick access to COUNTER-compliant reports.
- Updated Data Harvesting: The new JSON schema for R5.1 uses OpenAPI3.1 and is more compact than the old schema, so the files are easier to produce, validate, and use. This means changes like avoiding duplicate item and parent metadata, simplifying the performance structure, and simplifying value lists.
- Deeper Data Analytics: Powerful, flexible and granular data analytics will provide greater, valued insights for the Gale business with data driven evidence for innovative business change and user engagement.
“Partnering with Scholarly iQ aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing libraries and institutions with the tools they need to effectively manage and analyze their digital collections,” said Matt Kibble, Director of Product Management for Global Academic Subscriptions at Gale. “Aligning with industry standards like COUNTER is a core part of Gale’s commitment to serving the library community, and working together with Scholarly iQ we can provide trustworthy data for customers to asses the impact of our databases.”
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Gale to bring enhanced COUNTER reporting to libraries,” said Gary Van Overborg, CEO at Scholarly iQ. “This partnership represents a significant step towards providing libraries with the insights they need to navigate the evolving landscape of digital resources effectively.”
The new COUNTER reporting capabilities will be available to Gale customers starting 15th February 2025. For more information about this partnership and its benefits, please visit [Gale's website link] or www.scholarlyiq.com.
